Sometimes you just need a cup of coffee to kick-start your morning or to power you through the rest of the day.
Or maybe you want to leisurely sip on a caffeinated drink as you flip through a favorite book or catch up with a friend.
If you’re like most coffee lovers, there’s always a reason to fill up on a delicious caffeinated drink. So we put together some of Boise’s favorite coffee shops where you can load up for your next caffeine fix.
Big City Coffee and Cafe
With plenty of cozy spaces, colorful art and hearty café fare, this is a great spot to unwind and sip.
As a community favorite for more than two decades, the shop got started as a smaller coffee place in West Boise. Today, it’s a popular destination in the Linen District, serving up freshly brewed drinks and pastries. If you’re hungry, try out the farm-inspired breakfast and lunch menu.
As far as the coffee? Well, there’s a lot to choose from. As expected, you can order an Americano, cappuccino, chai tea, drip coffee and hot chocolate. But there are other coffee and drinks that will intrigue you, such as the ginger bread man, Irish buttercream, Mexican mocha, Milky Way, pumpkin pie latte, orange crush and so many more. Just check out the full offerings of coffee and specialty drinks here for a complete picture of what will be in store for you.
Neckar Coffee
Visitors immediately notice the fresh and airy atmosphere inside Neckar Coffee. It’s a prelude to the deliciously smooth coffee options customers have come to love.
As a roaster and preparer, Neckar Coffee lets customers subscribe to its various whole coffee beans, including Guatemala, Ethiopia and Kenya blends.
For prepared drinks, customers can order espresso, Americano, macchiato, cappuccino, cortado, latte, mocha, drip, affogato, nitro float and cold brew, among other drinks.
If you prefer your coffee delivered to your doorstep on a regular basis, learn more about its coffee bean subscription here.
Form & Function
As any coffee lover will attest, coffee certainly has a form and a function.
The name seems a little modest for this craft coffee shop, which serves up delicious drinks using house-roasted beans and baked goods. Yes, you can order by subscription, if that’s your preferred delivery method.
If you go for a visit, you’ll quickly notice the inviting and open atmosphere where you can sip and lounge as time melts away.
Some of the coffee items include espresso, Americano, cortado, latte and mocha. Other drinks on the menu are house chai, turmeric latte, matcha latte, hot cocoa and tea.
If you like being a little edgy or spontaneous with your selection, the bright eyed espresso offers something out of the ordinary with chocolate, citrus and strawberry.
Slow by Slow Coffee
Your heart will be warmed by the chic and retro atmosphere at Slow by Slow, located along Eighth Street.
If you can’t get enough of pour overs, then you should head straight to the pour over bar, which serves up La Inteligencia (Guatemala), Abadatezuka and Kanzu (Rwanda).
At the espresso bar, you can order espresso, Americano, macchiato, cortado, cappuccino, latte and mocha.
Other drinks you’re sure to love are the batch brew, chai tea latte, slow chocolate and other seasonal drinks. Don’t miss out on the loose-leaf teas and specials.
Flying M Coffee House
This vibrant coffee shop is a little quirky, with its gift shack and mismatched furniture, but is always friendly and delivers signature coffee blends and freshly baked goods.
Flying M has been roasting its beans since 1995 for unforgettable coffee creations, including its house and espresso blends and other unique coffees from around the world. Shop online here.
Hyde Perk Coffee House
Open later than most coffee houses, Hyde Perk Coffee is a great spot to visit at all times of the day.
Coffee lovers can rely on Hyde Park for all the usual drinks in the coffee repertoire. But the menu drink options will change on occasion.
Customers can rely on Hyde Park for drip coffee, Americano, latte, mocha, cappuccino, chai, espresso and other caffeinated drinks. Hyde Perk also serves a variety of pastries, some of which are gluten-free. Scones, breads, muffins, cookies, donuts and cinnamon rolls are just some of the options.
